Is there a limit to the number of entries I can submit?
No, there are no limits. You can enter as many pieces as you want to both the Scenario Category and Illustration Category. You will need to fill out an application form for each entry.
Will prize-winning works be used in the app?
This has not yet been decided. It is possible that the winner will be asked to illustrate a Voltage project in the future.
What are last year’s prize winners doing now?
We are working together with some of last year’s prize winners. We are planning to put up their interviews on this website.(Only japanese page )
I am currently working as a professional, can I still apply?
Yes, you can apply. However, there are copyright issues, so please read the terms and conditions before applying.
Can I submit my entry by post?
We are not accepting submissions by mailed through the postal service. Please apply through the application form on this website.
I saw the results and my piece was not selected. Can I ask the reason why?
Unfortunately, we cannot answer inquiries regarding why a piece was not selected.
I live outside of Japan. Can I apply from abroad?
Yes, you can. If you become a prize winner, we will need to know your bank account information to award the prize money via bank transfer.
I have a foreign passport. Can I apply?
Yes, you can. The contest is open to all nationalities, but if you become a prize winner, you will need a bank account so that we can award the the prize money via bank transfer.
There is a Japanese page. How does it differ from the English page?
No. Submissions from the English page and from the Japanese page will go to the same destination.
Can I post my piece on my blog or other websites?
Yes , you can.
Can people under 20 apply?
Anyone of any age can apply. Applicants under 20 years of age should get permission from a parent or guardian before applying.
Can the Story writng be drawn by hand?
No. Write your story using the set application format in the story writing category page. The story must follow the set plot.
Can I entry co-writer script?
Yes you can. but represent and put the name one of you.
Can the illustrations be drawn by hand?
Yes, but please scan the illustration using the specified resolution. The lines need to be clear, and the expression needs to be clearly visible.
Does the illustration for Theme 2 need a background?
It does not matter. If it is necessary for the balance of the illustration, you may use one. The background will not be part of the evaluation for the selection.
I don’t know what A4 size is. What are the vertical and horizontal pixes?
4093px vertically and 2849px horizontally.
Each file size should be under 2MB as a JPG file.
Can I draw characters similar to those that already exist?
We are looking for styles like the ones shown in the samples, but if there are certain drawing styles of your liking, you can send them in.
Can I draw characters similar to those that already exist?
No, please draw original characters that do not exist. If you draw similar characters, they will not be judged.
What is the International Illustration Category?
We established a subsidiary in San Francisco, USA, in May 2012, and began the full-scale expansion of the love game in North America. Currently we have nine titles available, and intend to expand still further.
This is the second time we have had an international illustration category, and we look forward to submissions from talented illustrators from all over the world who can draw in a North American style. Make the most of this chance to make yourself shine!
